Miss Yifang graduated from a renowned overseas music conservatory in 1994, majoring in Pop Vocal and Performing Arts. With 24 years of experience in music education, she has devoted much of her career to the development of vocal foundations, contemporary singing, and the training of aspiring singers and music educators.
As a dedicated and passionate vocal coach, Yifang specializes in building strong vocal foundations through systematic training in vocal technique, breath support, resonance, pitch, rhythm, vocal strength, emotional expression, and stage performance. Over the years, she has worked with learners from different backgrounds, from complete beginners and adult music enthusiasts to aspiring performers and music professionals. Her students appreciate her passion, discipline, attention to detail, and rigorous yet practical approach to teaching.
In 2004 and 2005, Yifang was appointed as a vocal coach at the Music and Arts Centre (ITE) and also served as a Mandarin vocal instructor for NTUC’s P.L.A.Y. programme. She has also been invited to participate in community singing programmes organised by the National Arts Council.
Throughout her career, Yifang has been frequently invited to serve as a professional judge for various singing competitions in Singapore, where her extensive experience in vocal technique and performance has contributed to the evaluation and development of aspiring singers. She was also a regular guest judge for Mediacorp TV’s Golden Age Talentime Singing Contest.
Beyond developing singers, Yifang has also dedicated herself to nurturing and mentoring music educators. Over the past 24 years, she has trained and guided many aspiring vocal coaches and music instructors, some of whom have gone on to build their own careers in music education. For her, teaching is not simply about helping students sing better, but about passing on knowledge, experience, discipline, and a genuine passion for music to the next generation of educators.
As the Founder and Managing Director of Focus Music, Yifang has played an integral role in shaping the school’s teaching philosophy and direction. From its humble beginnings to becoming an established local music school in Singapore, she has remained committed to one belief: with the right guidance, patience, and perseverance, music can become a meaningful and lifelong part of anyone’s journey.
